“Energy, emotion, a sense of the place”… All of my work is about the perceptions I have of the world in which I am observing, but as importantly also elements of our human condition – how I am feeling that day as I paint, what stories are running through my head. And they show too, I am told.
I do a lot of sitting, looking, studying colours and textures. My MA Arts and Ecology encouraged working with the disappointing aspects of our world – all man made. While I engaged fully with this at the time, my work now celebrates the beauty, it does not mean that I do not engage with the horrors, more that I want to acknowledge the wonderful too.
